Title: Thoughts on the Teaching Focus of Advanced Chinese Reading Course
Abstract: In the context of international Chinese language education, advanced Chinese reading instruction needs to emphasize different levels of focus. Based on the characteristics and teaching objectives of the course, this paper explores the teaching focus of advanced Chinese reading classes and proposes teaching methods and strategies using case studies. These mainly include five aspects: word meaning differentiation, text comprehension, cultivation of stylistic awareness, understanding of the author’s thoughts and feelings, and expansion of cultural background knowledge. Teaching should emphasize differences in word structure and semantics, comprehension of complex sentences, identification of stylistic features, and cultivation of stylistic sensitivity. Through the accumulation and training of cultural and pragmatic knowledge, overall reding comprehension ability should be improved. At the same time, students should be guided to cope with language situations they may encounter outside the classroom.
